Late Harvest Gems: Delicata Squash, Chanterelles & Apples
Fall's pockets are overflowing with gold: golden leaves, chanterelles sometimes hiding under them, and, with some luck, late afternoon light gilding November’s colorful mosaic in golden hues. While the fields are mostly fallow, there are a few gems still available, including delicata squash, chanterelles, and local apples.
Our pals at Foraged and Found Edibles comb the forests to bring us the best golden chanterelles for our Chanterelle Prosciutto Primo seasonal. These mushrooms, which are earthy with a meaty texture, pair up nicely with slices of tender prosciutto. Throw in some creamy mozzarella, a base of olive oil, and some garlic, and you've got yourself a pizza that feels just right for the season. Simple, honest, delicious.
Our Autumn Harvest seasonal pizza features delicata squash. Chefs adore its edible skin and velvety texture. When roasted, it's like biting into a sweet dream. We add shredded Brussels sprouts, whose gentle bitterness brings balance to the lightly sweet squash. Topped with grated parmesan and laid over mozzarella on an olive oil crust, it's straight-up autumn goodness.
Gelatiamo might be best known for its classic Italian flavors, but their seasonal takes on American classics are worth waiting for. Their Caramel Apple Crumble Gelato is an Italian riff on classic apple pie. It features creamy apple gelato swirled with caramel ribbons and spiked with a fall crumble that resembles crunchy bits of buttery pie crust. This delightful Italian gelato is as American as... well, apple pie.
