Upcoming Giveaway: Miss Marjorie's Steel Drum Plantains

We’re now in the fifth month of our community giveaways! We started these amid the shutdown to surprise our customers with an unexpected gift and help our industry peers through a hard time. Because significant challenges remain, we’re carrying on with our giveaways as long as possible.

Our next giveaway is Miss Marjorie’s Steel Drum Plantains. Order a whole pie Tuesday September 8, and while supplies last, we’ll bring you a box of this signature appetizer from Marjorie, a beloved Capitol Hill restaurant.

The sweet and savory plantain chips are sliced thin and deliciously crispy. Their curved shape makes them perfect for dips, but they’re so good straight out of the box that you may not get to the dip before they’re gone.

Donna Moodie opened Marjorie in Belltown in 2003 and moved it in 2010 to its current location in the bustling Pike/Pine Corridor. Moodie grew up in the predominantly Black South Side of Chicago. Her mother, the eponymous Marjorie, a Jamaican immigrant, was a vivacious host with a passion for cooking who opened her house to guests. She made everything from scratch and delighted in sharing foods she loved. So it’s only fitting that the most popular appetizer at the restaurant is named after Moodie’s inspiration, her mother, Miss Marjorie.

Marjorie has one of the best patios in Seattle, and in normal times it is packed elbow to elbow with people enjoying Marjorie’s famous cocktail and Miss Marjorie’s Steel Drum Plantain Chips. Due to Covid-19 precautions, diners are no longer side by side, but appropriately socially distanced. The patio is open evenings from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. and a fabulous take-away menu is available Tuesday through Sunday from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M.
