Bike Works: Celebrating Major Taylor’s Birthday with Pie

Bikeworks Seattle: Two wheels. Endless Possibilities.

This is our kind of bike ride! It’s got it all: fun, exercise, community, great food, and social justice. The Major Taylor birthday celebration kicks off with coffee and pies from Baked from the Hart, then a casual hour-long bike ride followed by a pizza pie lunch donated by Pagliacci!

The late great Marshall “Major” Taylor is the first African American world champion cyclist and the inspiration behind Cascade Bicycle Club’s Major Taylor Project. The project empowers youth through bicycling, helping them explore their communities, build confidence, and discover their power to effect change.

It all starts at 11 A.M. this coming Saturday (November 20) at Bike Works, located next to Pagliacci’s Columbia City store. The vibrant South Seattle non-profit that champions the bicycle as a vehicle for change to empower youth is partnering with Cascade Bicycle Club to host the free, no-drop, all-ages community ride. The ride will start at noon and follow a South End loop that runs 11.3 miles with about 400 feet of elevation gain.

Bike Works is accepting donations to benefit Cascade Bicycle Club’s Major Taylor Project. Register for the celebratory ride here.
