SALAD CONTAINERS & CUPS

As people have become increasingly committed to protecting the environment, more attention is drawn to what makes up containers and packaging. We use Greenware cups from Ingeo (PLA) biopolymer packaging. PLA is a resin that is 100% renewable through annual corn harvests and fully compostable. Starch stored in corn kernels is isolated and converted into sugars. These sugars are fermented and separated to create the plastic called PLA. Our sustainable packaging is “grown” and made in the US from natural corn materials.

We recently learned that while the salad containers we were using were compostable, they were not being accepted in the home yard collection but were with commercial collection. We have since switched to a recyclable product, but some of our locations still have the compostable containers. Please check the bottom of the container for the recycle symbol to determine which type you have and how to dispose of them. We are looking for a new compostable container that will be accepted with your yard waste.

Most of our other packaging is compostable including utensils, paper bags, mk cups, and containers. They can be disposed of in your yard waste container. The only other item that is not compostable is the small Solo container used for hot marinara sauce, which is recyclable.

COCA-COLA PACKAGING

Coke has developed new sustainable packaging called PlantBottle. Their new plastic bottles are made from up to 30% plant-based renewable materials. Their manufacturing process turns sugarcane and molasses by-products into PET plastic which maintains the same quality as regular PET bottles and is 100% recyclable. The Dasani water we carry is packaged in PlantBottle packaging.
