You’re already familiar with the Mariners, Sounders, Seahawks, and Storm, but what about the unsung sports teams of Seattle and the Puget Sound region? Do you know the name of our local curling club? What about our region’s professional lacrosse team? Do you know who the Seattle Majestics are? We’ve got these answers and more in our Spring/Summer 2013 newsletter.

The newsletter features articles about Underdog Sports (safe sporting for “everyday players”) and Seattle Bike Polo (it all started here, folks). And we welcome our new professional women’s soccer team, Seattle Reign FC, who’ve already started their season on the road. Their first home opener is May 16^th at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila. OK…we admit it. We jumped on the Seattle World’s Fair bandwagon like everyone else.  But then, it’s not often that an entire city gets to celebrate the Golden Anniversary of one of its iconic structures. And, while putting our Spring/Summer Newsletter together, we found out some interesting things about the area around Seattle Center.  Would it surprise you to know that our Queen Anne Pizzeria resides where a pre-Space Needle landmark used to be? Our very gray spring left many of us in the travel mood. That was the inspiration of our latest newsletter. That and a recent trip along the coast with a quick stop at Rumiano Cheese Company, the place that makes our mozzarella cheese. Learn a little more about the trip in our current newsletter. Also featured are some suggestions for travel destinations, travel apps, curious spots and movies that will inspire and/or satisfy your urge to travel.

Over the past year or two it seems like our crew has gone pet crazy. Person after person after person has mentioned getting a new pet. So we decided to focus on that phenomenon in our summer newsletter, making it a pet issue.

Sometimes the greatest challenge for our newsletter is determining which of our wonderful crewmembers to feature.  If we are looking for crew with particular talents and interests, I usually put out a call to managers to help me find the right people. Sometimes the list falls short of the usually 10 slots I’m trying to fill. That wasn’t the case for this issue. Plenty of people volunteered themselves and their pets. But we were only able to shine the spotlight on a few.
